on Saturday 3rd February representatives from Hadrian District including Scouts from 1st Hexham & 1st Prudhoe, attended a tree planting ceremony in the park grounds in Hexham. Organised by the District Scout historian Mr Robert Hubbuck.
Robert said "What a quietly momentous day it was in keeping with our great country England. Our founder Lord Baden Powell I'm sure have been suitably impressed by our planting an oak tree for future generations, For it was he who uttered the immortal words "From a small acorn, a mighty oak tree will grow" and sit it was and so it is.
